Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. Our organization has more than 352,000 memberships. Members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 16,400 clubs in 141 countries.
Gavel clubs are a way of providing the Toastmasters experience to youth. Following similar Toastmasters club meeting protocols, Gavel clubs use club officer titles and education manuals. Gavel club members are referred to as “gaveliers”.
The Brampton Gavel Club was established on September 8, 2012 and officially became an affiliate of Toastmaster International on November 30, 2012. It was founded by Malcolm Jones with the support of Brampton Speakeasy Toastmasters Club.
Since its humble beginnings, the Gavel Club has provided youth — ages 10 to 17 — a safe and supportive environment to enhance their communication and leadership skills through the use of Toastmasters education material.
The world needs leaders. These leaders must not only accomplish, they must communicate. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, leaders emerge from the Toastmasters program.
Every Toastmaster's journey begins with a single speech. During their journey, they learn to tell their stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback — and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership.
Your journey through Toastmasters — from delivering speeches to acquiring leadership skills to mentoring others or even becoming a professional speaker — will lead to a place of experience and confidence from which you’ll turn goals into realities.
Along the way, you’ll become a part of a supportive group of youth in your local area who share a common desire: to improve communication and leadership skills through practice, peer feedback and objective evaluation. Let your journey begin.
